It is an interdisciplinary field that deals with chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics and engineering concepts that are pooled together to develop technologies for the betterment of human life. It will provide you with the opportunity to enhance your research skills in using biological principles and systems to create new products, services and industries. Biotechnology is not confined or bound as a single discipline but includes many interdisciplinary fields of science rapidly gaining significance and opportunities for youngsters who want to explore the new frontiers of science.

Programme Educational Objectives

Consistent with the Department of BME Vision and Mission, the Programme Educational Objectives of the study programme BS Biotechnology are:

PLO 1: To produce graduates who will be equipped with the knowledge of Science, Technology, mathematics, modern tools and skills to propose ideas and solutions, culminating into a technology or equipment in the healthcare system.
PLO 2: To produce graduates able to monitor, repair and calibrate the products using modern tools for the maintenance in biomedical engineering technology and generate employment through entrepreneurship.
PLO3: To produce graduates who will be able to manage and communicate multidisciplinary teams and assist in research and development.

Moreover, biotechnologists can fit in the Agriculture, Animal Technician, Animal Husbandry, Clinical Research Associate, Documentation Coordinator, Bioinformatics Specialist Environment Conservation, Forensic DNA Analyst, Genetic Engineering, Greenhouse and Field Technician, Healthcare, Industrial Research and Development Medicine, Instrumentation/Calibration Technician, Laboratory Automation Specialist, Laboratory Technician, Manufacturing Assistant, Quality Control Technician, Quality Assurance Specialist, Research Associate, Sales Representative. It is predicted that biotechnology will become one of the most important applied sciences of this century.
